Our Communion Practice

To our visitors:

Thank you for joining us at Divine Service. Like the vast majority of Christendom, St. Paul's practices closed communion. Our position is that the bread and wine are also Christ's Body and Blood by Sacramental Union. We believe fellowship at the Lord's Supper is a table of unity in faith/doctrine beyond the single theological position of the Lord's Supper.

To commune at St. Paul's, one is to be a member of the LCMS in good standing with their congregation. Or, one must be a member of a parish in full altar and pulpit fellowship with the Lutheran Church Missouri Synod. See this website for a list of denominations in fellowship with the LCMS: https://ilcouncil.org/members/

Geographical examples would include the LCC (Lutheran Church--Canada), the AALC (The American Association of Lutheran Churches) and the Lutheran Synod of Mexico --among thirty plus other denominations.

If you have any questions and would like to know more, please contact our Pastor. Thank you.
